MUTHEROS

The Operating System for High-Tension Sci-Fi RPGs

MutherOS is not a VTT. It is a diegetic session control system for running time, systems, and pressure — live and inside the fiction.

RUN THE SHIP.

ENFORCE THE CLOCK.

LET THE CONSEQUENCES UNFOLD.

MUTHER OS Interface

Stop Juggling Clocks. Start Managing Crises.

The In-Game Universal Time (IGUT) clock is always running.

No vague time skips. No mental math. No GM “fudging.”

Timers, resources, and failures all reference the same persistent clock—because in survival horror, time is the enemy. When the clock is visible, every decision carries weight.

Timeline Interface
NARRATIVE CONTROL
Easily add time in meaningful game increments like +10s (Action), +10m (Turn), or +6h (Watch)
DYNAMIC TRACKING
Utilize Countdown, Repeating Cycle, and Stopwatch timers, or chain multiple timers to manage complex scenarios
URGENCY FIRST
Active timers are Auto-Sorted to always display in order of urgency (soonest to expire first)

TABLES THAT BECOME SYSTEMS

Most RPG tables stop at a result.
MutherOS tables change the game state.

The Table Builder lets you design structured, reusable tables that don’t just generate flavor. They drive the session forward.

DICE-ROLLS
User-defined columns and range-based outcomes with configurable die types.
LOADOUTS
Create custom equipment tables with built-in "Give to Player" functionality.
REFERENCES
Static lookup tables with user-defined columns for flexible reference data.
TABLE-CHAINING
Chain multiple tables together for multi-step procedural generation.

Tables stop being notes. They become live mechanics.

Terminals & Hardware

Create fully simulated in-game Networks with custom locations and devices. Generate functional, interactive terminal screens that can be shared with players.

Network Simulation
Hacking Is No Longer a Roll
Open a terminal.
Type commands.
Connect to systems.

Doors unlock.
Alarms trigger.
Consequences follow.
Networks Are Real Systems
Networks aren't abstract.

They're built from locations,
access points, and devices.

Every connection matters.
Hardware You Can Interact With
Doors. Cameras. Sensors.
Life support. Security.

Players don't bypass systems.
They engage them.
TERMINAL DESIGNER
Create immersive player-facing terminals with 7 cinematic themes inspired by classic sci-fi. Add boot animations and design custom menus and commands.
TERMINAL THEMES: Nostromo Sulaco Weyland-Yutani WOPR Andromeda Strain Esper T-1000
CUSTOM CONTROL
Define custom commands for any hardware device with multi-line responses and timing effects. Display live camera feeds with auto-pan animations. Override defaults or create entirely new device interactions using special response syntax.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What game systems does MutherOS support?

MutherOS is completely system-agnostic. It works with Mothership, Alien RPG, Traveller, Death in Space, or any sci-fi RPG where time pressure and terminal interaction matter.

Do I need technical skills to use it?

No coding required. The dashboard is designed for GMs, not programmers. Point, click, and run your session. Terminal commands are pre-built for players.

Can players access terminals on their phones?

Yes! Player terminals are fully responsive. Players just need the session code and a browser. Works on phones, tablets, and computers.

Is there a free version?

Yes! The Free Account gives you full access to the GM dashboard with local storage, terminal themes, table builder, and more. Sign up to browse the Systems Library and join sessions as a player. Command Link unlocks cloud sync and multiplayer.

How is this different from Roll20 or Foundry?

MutherOS is not a VTT. We don't do maps, minis, or grid combat. We focus on what VTTs ignore: time pressure, terminal interaction, and narrative systems. Use us alongside your existing tools.

What's included in the Systems Library?

181 pre-built assets including dice-roll tables, reference tables, loadout generators, hardware types, and network blueprints. Use them as-is, customize them, or chain them into your own systems.

Do I need a credit card to start the free trial?

No credit card is required to start your 7-day free trial. You'll only be asked for payment information when you decide to continue with a paid subscription after experiencing all the features.

What happens after my free trial ends?

After your 7-day free trial ends, you'll be automatically charged for your selected plan (monthly or annual). You'll continue to have full access to all Command Link features. If you don't want to continue, you can cancel anytime before the trial ends and you won't be charged.

Can I switch between monthly and annual billing?

Yes! You can switch between monthly and annual billing at any time from your account settings. If you switch from monthly to annual, you'll receive prorated credit for any unused time. Annual billing saves you 17% compared to monthly.
